Dr. Yael Halaas is acknowledged as one of New York City's top hair transplant surgeons and facial plastic surgeons by her patients and peers. She has performed numerous eyebrow hair transplants and achieves consistently great results. She prides herself on her training, esthetic eye, and results.
What causes eyebrow hair loss? Most commonly, it’s caused from over-plucking, prior electrolysis and/or laser hair removal, or an accident leaving a scar. This condition can also be caused by genetics or medical abnormalities such as an abnormal thyroid.
Eyebrow hair transplant procedures are performed by Dr. Halaas under mild oral sedation in her new State of the Art, Park Avenue New York office.
Donor hairs for your eyebrow hair transplant procedure are harvested from an area of the scalp where finer hairs are located. Selecting finer donor hair gives you a result more consistent with your original eyebrow hairs. The donor site incision is located in the back of the head and is typically 1-2 inches in length. Once harvested, you will be left with a pencil thin scar which will be concealed by your existing hair.
These newly harvested hairs are placed one at a time in a naturally-growing angle into tiny .5mm or .6mm incisions and serve to provide thicker, permanent, naturally-appearing eyebrows. The entire Eyebrow transplant procedure from start to finish takes about 3-4 hours.
In approximately two weeks the transplanted hair follicles will fall out, which is a normal part of the process, and the new follicles will start to grow in about 3 months. It can take up to a year before you see the final results.
It should be noted that some of the donor hairs may need to be trimmed approximately once a month and groomed to personal taste. The donated hairs will last a lifetime.
